Growth & Opportunity Inc.

We came into existance in 1956 when a group of parents joined together in an effort to provide services to children with developmental disabilities.  At that time, academically oriented services were provided to individuals in Lapeer County from a two room school house  known as the Griswold School Day Care Center.

In October of 1973, the Lapeer Adult Activity Board was incorporated through grants from Vocational Rehabilitation Services along with land and building mortgage, the program moved to North Lapeer Road. In October of 1974 the program's name was changed to Growth & Opportunity Inc.

In September of 1979, Growth & Opportunity Inc. Work Activity Programs were moved to the present location. In November of 1983 all services were moved to the current location at 525. S. Court St.
The N. Lapeer Rd. facility was then sold.
